In this session you will begin constructing the duffle bag sides. The sides of the duffle have many pieces including a pocket with flap and magnet closure, a handle, and a d-ring attachment for the removable strap. You will also get to work with much of the hardware used on the duffle in this session.

    Why make a duffle bag out of faux vinyl and not something more durable like HD canvas or Cordura nylon? Straps should be made out of HD nylon or polypropylene webbing if you want them to hold up at all…

    Top stitching looks best when stitch on top of right side of fabric with top stitching thread. When you sew on the wrong side of fabric the bobbin thread will show and does not look as nice, because bobbin thread tension tends to bury the thread and thread definition is lost.

    Mark for the pocket magnet, sew the small buckle strip below where magnet will be inserted. Now insert magnet. Sew smart not hard!
