This garbage bag dispenser is handy for storing plastic bags from the grocery store until you can reuse them. This garbage bag holder is tube-shaped with a ribbon loop for hanging and an elastic lower edge to be sure the plastic bags don’t fall out before you need them.

No matter how good you are at bringing reusable grocery bags to the store, everyone inevitably accumulates some plastic bags. Having a handy place to store them, you can reuse them as garbage bags in your house or for picking up dog waste, so you don’t have to purchase dedicated bags.

The tutorial is fast and easy; Nicki LaFoille shows you how!

Using a rectangle of fabric, a small length of ribbon, and a length of elastic, you can make this garbage bag dispenser in just twenty minutes.

Nicki discusses fabric options and the most suitable fabric types for this project. She also covers how to change the size of the project. Then Nicki demonstrates how to stitch the tube to be sure the raw edges don’t fray on the inside. Learn how to thread the elastic through the lower casing and attach the ribbon loop to the upper edge.

Customize this garbage bag dispenser by changing the fabric or varying the ribbon loop. It will likely hang in an inconspicuous place, but make it fun and coordinate with your style by stitching it up for yourself or as a gift. Everyone needs a plastic bag holder!
