What exactly is the right way to sew elastic to fabric, for example when sewing clothes where you want the elastic to gather the fabric plus allow for stretching (such as at the ends of cute sleeves)? I see videos where the sewist pulls the elastic to hold it back, so that it will gather once sewn. But isn’t that bad for your sewing machine, pulling anything it’s stitching through while sewing?
